The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has announced the results of the Civil Services (Preliminary) Examination 2015. They have shortlistd nearly 15,008 from the 4 lakh aspirants who had taken the test on 23 August 2015.
Thw selection has been made on the basis of their score in a 200 marks general studies paper. The second paper (CSAT) was a qualifying nature and candidates had to score a minimum of 33%, 66 marks out of 200 marks to clear the Prelim examination. Marks scored in the second paper was not counted to draw up the shortlist.
Over 9.4 lakh civil service aspirants had applied for the preliminary examination earlier this year. Only 4 lakh of them appeared for the examination.
Successful candidates can now appear for the essay-based main examination that will be again used to shortlist candidates for the personality test in March-April next year.

UPSC also declared that it had also shortlisted another 1,415 candidates for the Indian Forest Service on the basis of the preliminary examination.
