Superseries Finals: Sindhu loses to Yamaguchi in final

Posted by

PV Sindhu finished with the silver medal in the BWF World Super Series Finals after going down to Akane Yamaguchi in the women’s singles final.
After winning the first game 21-15, she lost the second 12-21 and was looking good to take the gold medal before failing to cross the final barrier and losing the decider 19-21. Sindhu played a dominating first game, unleashing some top smashes and giving no chance to Yamaguchi. She won the first game 21-15.
But, Yamaguchi took advantage of a tiring Sindhu and made sure her smashes were far from Sindhu’s defence. She won the second game 21-12.
This has been one high-octane, tiring final for the players. Sindhu had defeated Yamaguchi earlier in the tournament but that was a group stage match.
