
Prime Minister Narendra Modi today announced an additional Rs. 1,000 crore assistance for Odisha, where Cyclone Fani wreaked havoc and damage. Earlier Rs 340 crore had been provided to the State Disaster Response Fund (SDRF) in advance when a forecast was made of the ‘extremely severe Cyclone Fani hitting Odisha coasts on May 3.
Prime Minister Modi reviewed the relief and restoration measures being undertaken by government officials in the cyclone affected areas.
PM Modi expressed warm approval to the people of Odisha for cooperating with the administration before the cyclone hit the State.
The Prime Minister also announced Rs. 2 lakh optional each for the kin of dead in the natural disaster and Rs. 50,000 for the injured
