The country’s first music museum will be set up with assistance from the Central Government in Thiruvaiyaru, Tamilnadu, the birth place of Saint Tyagaraja, one of the Trinity of Carnatic music.

The other two of the Trinity are Muthuswami Dikshitar and Syama Sastri. This was announced by the State Minister for Culture and Tamil Development Shri K Pandiarajan in Madurai. The decision was made to honour and bring back Carnatic music, which is sort of fading away in today’s age.

The Tyagaraja Aaradhana Music Festival which is held annually in January in Thiruvaiyaru attracts musical talents from all over the world. Carnatic music, is a system of music commonly associated with South India, including the modern Indian states of Andhra Pardesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, and Tamil nadu as well as Sri Lanka
