Modi addresses 80,000 young 'global citizens'We can and we will build a Swachh Bharat — free of all forms of filth — within one generation, Prime Minister Narendra Modi told the 80,000 young attendees of Global Citizen Festival India here via video conferencing.

“You bring an energy and idealism that is unparalleled,” he added.

Modi, who had attended an edition of Global Citizen Festival in 2014 in New York, said: “I know that I stand between you and Coldplay and so will make this brief.”

The fest is focused on creating an impact in areas of education, equality and clean water and sanitation.

Apart from the British band Coldplay, the fest also saw performances by international artistes like The Vamps, Jay Z and Demi Lovato.

Among Indian celebrities names like A.R. Rahman, Shah Rukh Khan, Freida Pinto, Ranveer Singh, Monali Thakur and Arijit Singh graced the gala.
