Kumaraswamy sworn in as CM of Karnataka

Amid a massive show of opposition unity in a state ceremony, HD Kumaraswamy took oath as the Karnataka CM.

Speaking to the media after the oath,  HD Kumaraswamy promised that JD(S) manifesto will be implemented as per promise given to the people.  He noted “This coalition will be a model for the entire country in which people’s expectations will be met and the party manifesto will be implemented, whether it is farmers’ issues, unemployment, women empowerment. Even Congress’ manifesto and popular programmes will be continued.”

The swearing-in ceremony was witnessed by a galaxy of leaders from the opposition parties.   Leaders who attended the event included the former Congress president Sonia Gandhi and current president Rahul Gandhi; West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee; Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan; Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu; Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal; BSP leader Mayawati; SP leader Akhilesh Yadav; CPI leader D. Raja, and CPI(M) general secretary Sitaram Yechury, among others.
