Government appoints Girish Chandra Murmu as Lieutenant Governor of Jammu-Kashmir and Radha Krishna Mathur as Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh. P.S. Sreedharan Pillai appointed as Governor of Mizoram. Satya Pal Malik transferred as Governor of Goa.
Expenditure Secretary Girish Chandra Murmu has been appointed the new Lt Governor of Jammu-Kashmir while former defence secretary Radha Krishna Mathur has been appointed as Lt Governor of Ladakh.
Murmu is a 1985-batch IAS officer of Gujarat cadre. Mathur, a 1977-batch officer of Tripura cadre, has served as the defence secretary and is a former chief information commissioner.
While Murmu was set to retire from service in November this year, Mathur retired from the Central Information Commission in November last year.
The two Union Territories of Jammu-Kashmir and Ladakh will come into existence on October 31.
The incumbent governor of Jammu and Kashmir, Satya Pal Malik, has been moved to Goa. P.S. Sreedharan Pillai also appointed as Governor of Mizoram.
Meanwhile, former interlocutor to Jammu and Kashmir Dineshwar Sharma has been appointed the administrator of Union Territory of Lakshadweep.
