Indian Air Force’s AN-32 transport aircraft goes missing after taking off from Jorhat in Assam. The airborne aircraft had total 13 people on board including 8 aircrew and 5 passengers.
Indian Air Force (IAF) transport aircraft AN-32 that took off from Assam’s Jorhat with 13 people onboard on June 03,2019 has gone missing over over hilly terrain in the Northeast. The Antonov AN-32 aircraft took off at 12:27 pm for a remote military landing strip in Mechuka Advanced Landing Ground (only 29 kms from the China border), in Mechuka Valley in West Siang District of Arunachal Pradesh but lost signal within minutes.
C 130J Super Hercules aircraft, AN-32 military transport aircraft, two Mi-17 (medium twin-turbine transport helicopter)of Indian Air Force (IAF) and ALH (Advanced Light Helicopters) helicopter of Indian Army were launched to locate the missing aircraft.
Ground reports were received on the possible location of a crash site on Monday but when helicopters were routed to the location, no wreckage was found.
Indian Air Force in association with the Army and Indo Tibetan Border Police resumed the search operation for the AN-32 aircraft that went missing on Monday.
