Hockey India has appointed Harendra Singh as the Chief Coach for the Indian Menâs Hockey Team. He will take over from Dutchman Sjoerd Marijne, who will return back to his responsibility as coach of the Indian Womenâs Hockey Team.
Harendra, who led the Indian Junior Menâs Hockey team to the Junior World Cup title in 2016, was appointed as the Chief Coach of the Womenâs Hockey team in September 2017. Prior to that, he had led the womenâs team to their ninth Asia Cup title in Japan last year.
Speaking on his appointment, Harendra said, âIt is an honour for me to now manage the Indian Menâs Hockey team. It has been a very satisfying journey with the Indian Womenâs Hockey team and I would like to thank Hockey India for entrusting me with the new role as we prepare ourselves for a very important season aheadâ.
Sjoerd Marijne who was appointed as a women team coach said, âIâm excited to reunite with the Womenâs team and will look to focus building on the good form exhibited by the team in last six months as we look forward to the Vitality Womenâs Hockey World Cup 2018â
