Google’s Helpouts” is a service where several experts will be available, if an individual is searching for experts, they can speak to them over video. Presently Google is running a trial programme in which an individual searching for symptoms like sore eye and other common ailments can video-chat with a doctor.
Scripps and One Medical are the medical groups who are making their qualified doctors available. According to a written statement by the spokesperson “when an individual is searching for basic health related issues like insomnia, food poisoning our goal will be to provide an individual with the major useful information available”.
Among the side projects of Google healthcare is the biggest one. The life sciences division is developing a contact lens which can examine glucose levels. This was acquired by Lift Labs recently which is manufacturer of high-tech spoon for people with hand tremors.
Google has used invested a lot of fund for Calico, a pharmaceutical firm which is run by the former head of Genentech. A new partnership announced by Calico, for diseases like neuro degeneration and cancer which is found mostly in elderly people to construct a Bay Area-based facility to research on these diseases.

According to Telemedicine Association, telemedicine is an old concept and Doctors have been using it since telephone was invented. From at least 40 years doctors have been sharing X-ray images and using videoconferencing.

For the new iOS 8 operation system of Apple, it has announced a health-monitoring app and HealthKit. This app logs the statistics like a user’s footsteps, like heart rate and sleep activity and can pull the data from third party fitness and health-monitoring hardware.
Apple also further declared that it will allow makers of health-monitoring apps to tightly integrate with Health kit.
