The Vision Document for Digital North East 2022 was released by Ravi Shankar Prasad, Union Minister for Electronics & Information Technology and Law & Justice in presence of the Chief Ministers and IT Ministers of North Eastern states in Guwahati.
The document provides a roadmap for bringing about a digital transformation of the North Eastern Region through an accelerated implementation of the various initiatives under the Digital India programme of the Government.
The Vision Document for Digital North East 2022 aims to consolidate all the disparate digital initiatives with a view to restructure, refocus and fast-track implementation in a synchronized manner under the overarching Digital India programme.
The Vision for Digital North East sets the base to design specific implementation plans for each initiative and to provide a roadmap to transform and empower the lives of the common people in the North Eastern region.
It is envisaged that the Digital North East would enable North East India to become an important partner in India’s Trillion Dollar digital opportunity.
A Committee was set up by the Ministry of Electronics & Information Technology (MeitY) in September 2017, to develop a Vision and roadmap for ‘Digital North East 2022’.
