Amid the ongoing tussle between the BJP and Shiv Sena over power-sharing in Maharashtra, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today unanimously elected as state BJP’s legislature leader. Fadnavis expressed confidence that the alliance partners will soon form government in the state.
He called the rumours floating around in the state about the alternate formula being worked out to form the government, as just an entertaining gimmicks. BJP ally Shivsena will decide its stand tomorrow.
On the other hand, the Nationalist Congress party in its meeting held this afternoon in the presence of party chief Sharad Pawar and all senior leaders appointed Ajit Pawar as its legislator leader. Congress party also held a meeting in Mumbai.
AIR correspondent reports, caretaker CM of Maharashtra Devendra Fadnavis was today unanimously elected as the BJP candidate for CM ‘s post. Fadnavis’s name for the post for favoured by the majority of BJP leaders even the party’s state Chief Chandrakant Patil while moving the motion to elect Fadnavis as leader of the House said that in the last five years, no faction in the BJP ever went to Delhi to ask for Fadnavis’s replacement.
Patil said that this indicates his skills and acceptability across the state. Union minister Narendra Singh Tomar who was present for the meeting as central observers also stated that no other name was proposed at the BJP legislature party meeting. Meanwhile, the Shivsena has called up a meeting of its leaders tomorrow.
While Nationalist Congress Party’s fiery leader Ajit Pawar after being elected as leader of the party legislator stressed that his party will staunchly raise issues of public interest.
