The cyclonic storm MAHASEN that formed over Bay of Bengal close to Tamil Nadu and Kerala borders in the second week of May 2013 made a landfall at Bangladesh-Myanmar coast.
It killed 12 people and destroyed thousands of huts and forced a million people to flee their homes in Bangladesh and Myanmar.
The United Nations had warned that 8.2 million people were at risk from Mahasen in Bangladesh, Myanmar and north-east India.
Officials who were prepared for the cyclone, said the storm Mahasen weakened considerably before making landfall on the cost.
