Claude Monet’s painting ‘Mules” was recently sold for a record breaking amount of 778 crores.
The French painter Claude Monet who is an impressionist painter painted painting named ‘Meules’ which is an oil on canvas and was completed in the year 1890.The painting which was auctioned was among the 25 paintings ‘Meules ‘ that was created by him in 1890 and 1891 at his home in Giverny, in France’s Normandy region.
The importance of this painting is that it was the first instance when the painter went back to the same subject while differing on the atmospheric conditions.
For the first time an Impressionist Art commanded such a high bid at auction which crossed over$100 million threshold.
It has now become the 9th most expensive painting to have ever been sold at an international auction house. There were six bidders who participated in process but painting was eventually sold to an unidentified buyer.
The painting, Mueles, was one of the 25 paintings of a series that depict stacks of harvested wheat painted by Claude Monet.
