Unlike last year, the Prelim exam pattern this year was completely different. Usually from ancient history, Geography, Indian Constitution around 10-12 questions are asked but this year, there were merely two to three questions. There were few questions on environment andeconomics.
A quick analysis of the questions asked for General Studies paper 2016 suggests that about 40-45 questions were asked from economy and current affairs. Even questions on economics were based on the world current affairs.
In history and culture section, there was over all 16 questions. The important fact is this time was more questions were asked on the Indian culture than on the modern Indian history.
The biggest difference is seen in the geography section where numbers of questions asked werecomparatively less than the previous year, especially in the physical geography section.
Even in science and technology section, focus was on current topics related to the subject. Few questions were asked in the polity section.
Overall, this year questions were on current affairs, system and governance, law, social and economic law and there changes.
Civil service India predicts that this time the cut-off forgeneral category student will be around 110-120 marks.
