Amol Rajan First Non-White Editor of The IndependentAmol Rajan, the 29-year-year-old Indian origin journalist became the Editor of UK national paper, The Independent, on 17 June 2013. He became the first non-white editor of The Independent.

Amol Rajan replaced Chris Blackhurst. Earlier, Amol Rajan was the comment editor of the newspaper.

Amol Rajan was born on 4 July 1983 in Kolkata, West Bengal. He moved to London in 1986 and grew in South London. He studied English literature at Cambridge University.

After graduation he briefly worked with Channel 5 and Evening Standard.  He joined The Independent in the year 2007.
